0015.0019: Paddlewheelers in the Kootenays c.1988The SS Marion and the SS Duchess on Kootenay River, Unknown location One viewer wrote:The Duchess II and the Marion were never together on a river near Creston. The only river the were together on was the Upper Columbia between Golden and Windermere. Date: both the Duchess II and the Marion were launched in 1888. The Marion was moved over the mountains to Kootenay Lakes at the end of the 1889 season, so this photo was taken in 1888 or 1889. The Duchess II stayed on the upper Columbia until she was dismantled in the winter of 1902. Medium: Photograph - Image
