An interior view of The Palm, one of Cranbrook's premier confectioneries. This business was conducted in 1909 in a building that still exists on Norbury Avenue (10th Avenue). After the Cranbrook Courier was published out of this building and, most recently it has been occupied by High Country Sportswear. If you stick your head in the door you will still see the tin ceiling pictured in this photo.

Mortenson General Merchant
Mortenson General Merchant - Red and White Food Stores. Olaf Mortenson and Alice Clausen (married 1937) had three separate stores. In 1946 they took over the Dahlberg interest in a lof store building across from the C.N.R. station. In 1947 a new strore was built from lumber salvaged from the Japanese internment camp. In 1971 an ewstore was constructed on 5th Avenue in Valemount.
